Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, 5 Nov 2010 Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot Tournament Day 2 Results from Picante Sportfishing <http://www.picantesportfishing.com>
Day 2 results from the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot are in. The Cabo fishing has been great and has been the best in the history of the WON Tuna Jackpot. Following are the results from Day 2.
Boat #87, Reel and Deal, brought in a tuna of 208 pounds. It was another of those fairy tale stories. They were fishing near the Gordo Banks and were going to fish to the end. All the boats were leaving, but they figured they might as well stay out and fish to the end. Well at 3 PM an hour before lines out they got a hit and fought the fish for a couple of hours. It was a long battle, but when they got it to the boat they thought they might have a fish that could score them some money. So at 5PM they headed back to the harbor. They put the boat to the test and got back to the harbor near 5:45 and got the fish to the scales and bingo. It was the fish they hoped it would be. It weighed in at 208 pounds, the first and only fish to tip the scales at over 200 pounds. They topped the previous 192 pound top fish scored by Reel Quest. Do we see a pattern. Reel and Deal and Reel Quest. They were both Real lucky. Unfortunately for Reel Quest their big fish was topped by 16 pounds. That meant that Reel and Deal won the Jackpots in the $500, $1,000 and $2,000 categories. That totaled them $77,400. Not bad for a day's work. And they also scored the unofficial largest fish. The official prizes for the tournament will be announced at the awards banquet tomorrow night.
The next place money winners were on board the Minerva V. They scored big with their 158.3 pound fish. They were in both the $3,000 and $5,000 jackpots. That netted them a cool $63,200. Just goes to show that there is glory in the bigger fish, but if you aren't in the jackpots, there is only glory. Landing the 4th heaviest fish put them at the number two money winner.
Then, the Shambala, yesterday's winners in the $3,000 and $5,000 dollar jackpots, hit the money with their 8th place fish for the day. That fish netted them $16,000 in the $10,000 category. You have to enter the jackpots to win the money and they did again.
So as it stands, it looks like Reel and Deal will be the final winners with their 208 pound Yellowfin Tuna. Check back tomorrow for the official results and some pictures of the big fish.
And, in the optional Wahoo/Dorado Jackpot, Mucho Bueno, with their 56.8 pound Wahoo, took home $32,000.
